👨Kana ! Good to see you again. How have you been ?
カナさん！またお会いできてうれしいです。お元気でしたか？
👩Great ! So, how was your first flight to Japan ? Thirteen hours must have been quite a challenge.
元気でしたよ！日本への初めてのフライトはどうでしたか？１３時間のフライトはかなり大変だったでしょうね。
👨Yeah. I mean, the longest flight I’ve ever been on was seven hours — from New York to Paris.
そうですね。私がこれまでに経験した最長フライトは、ニューヨークからパリまでの７時間ですから。
👨Thank God I flew business class this time. I was able to stretch my legs, have some great food, and watch a couple of Japanese movies, too.
今回はビジネスクラスで助かりましたよ。足を伸ばすことができたし、食事は美味しいし、日本の映画もいくつか見ましたよ。
👩Sounds great ! Oh, I’ll get you a cart for your suitcases. After that, let’s head downstairs. I’ll help arrange your rent-a-car first.
よかったですね。あっ、スーツケース用のカートを持ってきますね。そのあと、下の階に行きましょう。まずはレンタカーの手配をお手伝いします。

カナとヘンリーは、空港のレンタカーの窓口に向かいます。
👩So, did you bring your international license with you ?
国際運転免許証は持ってきましたか？
👨Yeah, sure, I did. American licenses don’t work in Japan, right ?
ええ、もちろん持ってきましたよ。アメリカの運転免許証は日本では使えませんよね。
👩Sadly, no. Some countries and regions have licenses that are valid here — Germany, Switzerland, and Taiwan to name a few.
ええ、残念ですけど。海外の免許証で日本で有効なものもあるんですよ。例えば、ドイツ、スイス、台湾とか。
👨I had no idea ! I hope they make exemptions for US licenses soon. So, here we are.
知りませんでした！早くアメリカの免許証も例外扱いされるようになるといいですね。さて、着きました。
👩I spoke to the man at that counter before you came to confirm your booking. He said he can get you a sports coupe in silver or an SUV in black.
あなたが来る前にカウンターの人に予約の確認をしたんですけど、シルバーのスポーツクーペか、ブラックのSUVを用意できるって言っていました。
👨Oh, you’ve done the nitty-gritty stuff for me ? Thanks ! I think I’ll take the sports coupe. Black isn’t a very safe color in the dark.
ああ、僕のために細かい事務作業をやってくれたんですか。ありがとうございます！それでは、スポーツクーペにしようかな。黒は暗いところではあまり安全な色じゃないですからね。
👩Sure, I’ll let him know. I’ll do the paperwork for you, so if you could give me your license, that would be great !
