こんにちは、ヘンリー。夜遅い時間にビデオ通話で申し訳ありません。まだオフィスですか？
👨Yeah, we have flexible working hours, so I’m working late today.
ええ、うちはフレックスタイム制なので、今日は遅くまで働いています。
👩Relieved to hear that. So, according to Dr. Patel’s email, a new tax incentive for electric cars is in the works.
それを聞いて安心しました。さて、パテルさんのメールによると、電気自動車に対する新しい税制優遇策が導入されるようですね。
👩If we could increase our production rate of electric cars to 40 percent, we might be eligible for it.
電気自動車の生産割合を40%に引き上げることができれば、その対象になるかもしれません。
👨40 percent ? That’s no walk in the park, Kana… If we increase the ratio of electric cars, we’ll have to recalibrate everything from logistics and machinery to human resources.
40パーセント？それは簡単なことではないですよ、カナさん・・・電気自動車の割合を引き上げるとなると、物流から機械、人材まで、すべてを見直す必要が出てきます。
👨We’ve been at it for the last week, finalizing discussions with our component suppliers based on the current plan. It’ll be back too square one for everybody.
先週から、現時点での計画をもとに部品サプライヤーと最終的な詰めを懸命に行っているところですよ。みんなが振り出しに戻ることになります。
👩Not exactly square one, right ? There must be room for adjustment. This incentive will benefit our suppliers, too.
振り出しとまではいかないですよね？調整する余地はあるはずです。この優遇措置は、サプライヤーにもメリットがありますから。

カナとヘンリーの協議が続きます。カナは乗り気でないヘンリーに対し、説得を試みます。
👨You say this will also benefit our suppliers, but we only have Asakura to supply our batteries. I don’t think a factory of their size can increase their production to meet our demands.
これはサプライヤーにもメリットがあると言いますが、電池の供給は朝倉1社ですよね。あの規模の工場で、我々の需要に見合うだけの増産ができるとは思えませんけど。
👩I mean, their production scale isn’t finalized yet. If they can’t supply us, we might be able to ask one of Romano’s existing suppliers to come to Chennai ?
というか、朝倉電池の生産規模はまだ確定していません。もし、朝倉電池が供給できないなら、ロマーノの既存サプライヤーの1社にチェンナイまで来てもらうという手もあるのでは？
👨Well, there’s one company that we used to work with, but they’re not cash rich.
うーん、以前お付き合いしていた会社が1社あるのですが、資金に余裕があるわけではありません。
👨We would have to assist in their financing, and with their lack of experience in large-volume production, the quality risks would be immense.
資金調達の面倒を見ないといけないし、大量生産の経験はないので、品質面でのリスクがとても大きいのです。

👨From now ? Be realistic, Kana. We’re going to be starting test runs here next month.
