👨So you’re saying you need more staff to run the production line as time to train them?
つまり、生産ラインを動かす従業員を増やすことと、彼らの研修をするための時間が必要だということですね？
👩Yes. In order to do this without delaying production, I’d like both of you to send more on-site experts from Japan and the US to train the additional staff.
そうです。生産を遅らせることなくこのことをするために、お二人には日米から現場の専門家をさらに派遣していただき、増員分の研修をお願いしたいのです。
👩Well, it’s subject to the factory manager’s approval, but we might be able to send a couple of people. We have two skilled staff to be assigned to work in Chennai. I’ll see what I can do. How about you, Henry?
工場長の承認が必要ですが、2、3人なら派遣できるかもしれません。チェンナイへの辞令が出る予定の熟練従業員が2人います。私にできることを考えてみますね。ヘンリーさんはどうですか？
👨I doubt Joe, our factory manager, would agree because that would affect our production line here in Dallas. We’ve just filled the vacancies of skilled workers who left the company after the merger. But I’ll check with Joe first thing tomorrow morning.
こちらの工場長のジョーは賛成しないでしょうね。ここダラスの生産ラインに影響が出るでしょうから。合併のあとに退職した熟練従業員の欠員を補充したばかりなので。でも明日の朝一番にジョーに確認してみますよ。

👩All right, then. So, can we expect a productive solution from Dallas?

👨Yes, the new joiners seem to have good hands-on experience, so it makes two other skilled staff available for Chennai, at least for the short term.

👩That’s great news. So, Kana, how’s the situation in Tokyo?

👩As for the two staff I mentioned yesterday, they’ve already applied for a work permit in India. According to the Indian embassy in Tokyo, the visa should be granted in a week or so.

🔑I enjoyed the interviews very much. I have to say there isn’t much of a difference between Taro and Kiko. In my view, either would be suitable.
先ほどはお疲れ様でした。タロウとキコの間には、あまり大きな違いはないですね。私はどちらも適任と思います。
⭐️「お疲れ様でした」にピッタリの英語はないため、I enjoyed the interviews very muchで表現
🔑If we prioritize skills and aspirations, I think Taro would fit better. I figure he’ll come straight in and contribute to the company from day one.
スキルや上昇志向を優先するならば、タロウのほうが合っていると思います。彼は入社してすぐに、まさにその日から会社に貢献してくれるでしょう。
🔑If asked which would fit our corporate culture better, I’d go for Kiko. She has the global competence and cultural sensitivity to cope with a diverse team.
当社の社風に合うのはどちらかといえばキコだと思います。グローバルに適用する能力と、多様なチームに対応できる文化的な感性を持っていますから。
